The goal of CMSP is to develop a large, regionally reflective applicant pool to medical schools with a target population of students from disadvantaged and racial/ethnic backgrounds underrepresented in medicine.Īpplies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. The function of CMSP is to provide leadership, infrastructure, advising, and programmatic assistance to students attending community colleges to support their successful transfer to a 4-year university and to apply and enroll in California medical school.
CMSP is funded by the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) and fiscally sponsored by the Foundation for California Community Colleges. UCSD School of Medicine has received funding to be one of four inaugural Regional Hub of Healthcare Opportunity (RHHO) in the State of California.ĬMSP is a partnership between UC San Diego, CSU San Marcos, San Diego State University, and all nine community colleges in San Diego and Imperial Counties (Region X area), as well as multiple community organizations and health systems.
The Division for Child and Community Health in partnership with the UC San Diego School of Medicine (SOM), will serve as the lead for the implementation of the Regional Hub of Healthcare Opportunity (RHHO) for the Region X California Medicine Scholars Program (CMSP). The Department’s 18 divisions include the Division for Child and Community Health. The missions of research, education, and patient care are intertwined and are integral to the goals of the department. The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the School of Medicine. This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at 4305 University Ave and remote.
